Genomic Data Infrastructure Ireland Progress
GDI Ireland has advanced its integration with the wider
Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) Europe.
The team at the University of Limerick has successfully deployed the technical tools required to connect Ireland’s node to the European network.
As part of this progress, Alexandru Mahmoud, Abhishek Nayak, and Aedin Culhane have activated the
Irish node’s Beacon. This service enables researchers to query biological data, clinical data, and metadata in a standardized way.
At present, the Beacon is operating with simulated data to validate functionality. The next stage will involve transitioning to real datasets, further strengthening Ireland’s role in the federated genomic infrastructure across Europe.
